History Escape

Escape Game: The Berlin Wall & Cold War

On 13 August 1961, a city woke up divided — your job is to understand how it survived.

This route takes you to the real sites of divided Berlin. At 5–6 historic locations you solve puzzles that emerge directly from your surroundings: traces of the Wall, escape tunnels, border crossings, and the stories of the people who lived between East and West.

For twenty-eight years, West Berlin existed as a democratic island in the middle of Soviet-controlled territory. On this route you piece together how the city was divided, how families lived apart — and how peaceful mass protests brought the Wall down overnight in November 1989.

You need no guide and no app — just your smartphone browser and comfortable shoes. Walk at your own pace, pause whenever you like, and experience Berlin history where it actually happened. The entire game is available in English and German.
